Elster Electricity's Type AB electromechanical kWh meters are the most cost-effective meters for meauring kilowatt-hour energy usage. The AB electromechanical kWh meter is available as a single-phase (AB1) or polyphase (ABS) meter.
Advances in Elster Electricity's automated assembly processes and state-of-the-art calibration equipment have produced accurate and reliable electromechanical meters with an operational product live conservatively placed at 30 years. These meters can be shipped with only a few weeks' lead time.
Operating with the philosophy that the meter has become an information node, Elster Electricity has designed electromechanical meters to integrate different communication technologies into the product line. These communication modules are mounted under the meter's cover and support Automated Meter Reading (AMR) systems. The modules can be supplied on either the single phase or polyphase meters. Existing installed meters can also be retrofitted with the communication at a later date.
